Ross Douthat is finding his voice in the Obama presidency as one of the better conservative intellectuals out there. I think he nicely identifies one of the key yardsticks we’ll be using to measure Obama’s success. Though I haven’t read enough on inequality literature to make my own judgment, Douthat’s critique — and general skepticism that we can combine European style “equality” with American style growth — seems warranted.
